* Dr. Larry G. Arlian and a team at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, added dust mites to fabric items and then tested
the cleaning ability of a residential washing machine using standard temperature settings and detergents. The results are
reported in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. The washing removed 60% to 83% of live mites.
